Some films you can't help but cheer for. 'Paranormal Activity', which was written, directed and produced by Oren Peli for a ridiculously low $11,000, would qualify as one of those cinematic wonders that come around once a decade. Through a considerable amount of buzz and by delivering the goods as a jolting feature that will make you think twice about sleeping in your bedroom ever again, the film took over the No. 1 spot in the box office this weekend.

Before it became this decade's version of 'The Blair Witch Project', 'Paranormal Activity' got a premiere at Fantastic Fest. The success of the film led to last week's venture at The Highball, where moviegoers were treated to a Fan Appreciation Midnight Bash. The first ten theaters that sold out the midnight showing of the Thursday, October 22nd screening were treated to a special pre and after-party in honor of the film. Is it any shock that the South Lamar Alamo Drafthouse made the top ten? Hell no.

The attendees of the screening were treated to a few drinks before the film at The Highball. They also got to play around with Ouija Boards, channeling spirits as they drank a few of the best that the venue had to offer. Then it was onto the screening, where they were given a behind the scenes look at the film, including some nice swag as a thank you for making the film the sleeper hit of the year.

To finish the night off, The Highball welcomed the attendees back over after the film, where everyone bowled and sang karaoke until roughly four in the morning. You haven't lived until you've heard the Dukes of Hazzard theme song in the wee hours of the night. Just saying.

Be sure to check The Highball blog frequently, as we will keep you posted on all the exciting happenings at the venue. You don't want to miss another night like this. Also, you can follow The Highball on Twitter and Facebook. See you there.
